=============================== EXCEED HAVEN Quick Server Guide Homepage: http://exceed.quakedev.com =============================== This is a barebones tutorial for setting up an Exceed Haven server using the supplied qwprogs.dat file. You MUST have both the latest Client Package and a QuakeWorld server application installed(The MVDSV server* or QuakeForge** are the most recommended. Avoid FTE. It does NOT function properly). While the Map Pack is technically optional as of QWPROGS v2.3b and shouldn't be catastrophic to omit, it should be known that neither map rotation nor the voting menu can function without it. The first step is to move(if you haven't already) qwprogs.dat into the exceedhaven directory located within your Quake folder. Next, run your server of choice using the commandlines '+gamedir exceedhaven +sv_gamedir exceedhaven', or simply boot it up, and enter the same commands(minus the '+' symbols) into its console, then re/load a map. Alternatively, you may also copy & paste these two lines into the ID1/server.cfg file for a more permanent solution: gamedir exceedhaven sv_gamedir exceedhaven Congradulations, you are now running Exceed Haven. Finally, load your QuakeWorld client of choice(so long as your choice isn't FTE) and enter the command 'connect localhost' to connect to your server. LOADING AN UNLISTED COOPERATIVE/SINGLEPLAYER MAP: To activate a Cooperative/Singleplayer map that isn't listed on the menu, enter 'localinfo next coop' into the server console, and then load the map in question as you normally would. You could also try it with DM/CTF/TF maps, but the results would be strange and terrible. While this method can still be used, it should be completely obsolete after QWPROGS v2.3a. MAP AUTODTECTION: From QWPROGS v2.3b onwards, Exceed Haven will automatically detect if a map is deathmatch, cooperative, or Team Fortress/CTF, and switch to the respective Game Mode without the need for any user input. The detection formula is as follows; if a map has TF/CTF entities, it's considered TF/CTF. If it lacks TF/CTF entities but it has monsters, it's considered cooperative. If it lacks CTF/TF entities AND monsters, it's considered deathmatch. BUGS: Want glitches to be fixed?
